The Huntley was inspired by some of the most visionary architects and builders of the mid-century. In the late 1950's, William Krisel popularized the Butterfly Roof in Palm Springs, further defining the "Desert Modernist" movement.
Joseph Eichler's "California Modern" was a residential, outdoors-oriented adaptation of what had been largely an institutional and commercial style. His innovative design and building techniques inspired The Huntley's Great Room transom windows and large sliding doors – they enhance natural light saturation and blur the division between indoors and outdoors. Witness his legendary exposed post-and-beam design, supporting The Huntley's rooflines that provide shade for our outdoor living areas.
